Hey Scotty! Thinking of buying a used mustang. I’m wanting a v8 to have fun with over the weekends I also do minimal driving and im all about caring for my vehicles, I’m just not sure what year to get the car. I don’t want it to be more than 5 years old. But I’m willing to consider if the mileage is minimum. Also wanting to know what to look out for, you know problems that specific year may have. Also I wanna buy it from a dealership and pay(if possible) half up front. I need your advice!

p.s love watching your videos!! Laughing Out Loud

Mustangs are my specialty.

Here are some hints:

1. AVOID any manual transmissions after 2010. The MT-82 is TERRIBLE.

2. AVOID any 5.0L V8 past 2017. Ford switched to plasma lining and they screwed it all up. Those V8's chug oil, tick, and in general are junk.

3. 2005 to 2010 with the 3V 4.6L V8 is the best bang for the buck.

4. Nothing wrong with a clean 1999 - 2004 New Edge either, but if you want to stick to newer 'Stangs, the S197 (05 - 09) would be a great option. Plus you can find Shelby GT500's from that era for the same price as Ford charges for a totally stripped new GT. Because their prices are insane.

What about restyling of 5 gen(2011-2014)? I'm looking for such car with 3.7 v6 on automatic transmission, is there any problems and issues? Thanks in advance

With the V6 you are ok, especially with the automatics.

Still have some misunderstandings...I've looked for many other cars with cyclone v6 3.7, 3.5. For example Lincoln mkz. As I understand vehicles are absolutely the same as mustang or explorer same years of manufacture. But opinion is opposite, i read your comments regarding lincoln and you mentioned serious trouble with the cooling water pump, which is linked with the vehicle's chain......kindly ask you to clear it for me, because I have serious intentions to buy one of these cars, THX

"In general, 3.7-liter Cyclone engines have proven to be very reliable. With proper and timely maintenance, the life expectancy is well over 200,000 miles(300,000 km)."

The layout of the chain changed from '14-'15 so that is is now in front of the timing cover. That is why I suggested 2011 - 2014 3.7 V6 models instead. The current iteration of the Mustang, S550, is not as reliable as the previous iteration, the S197.

How about this one 🤣

In all seriousness, I'd go for a 2016 because it looks the same as the newer ones but sure comes a lot cheaper! 🤣 But just like any other car, get it checked out by a trusted mechanic!
