I currently own a 2005 tocoma TRD sport. The frame recall wasn't done on it and I've owned it since 2019. I'm looking to change vehicles as the frame is past it's prime. What's a better buy, Honda pilot, Toyota 4Runner, or Toyota highlander. My budget is max $20k. I was sold on the pilots, but am now reading more about the iffy transmission. Also, how high of mileage would still be reasonable to purchase one with?
I would say Highlander
The 4Runner is great but uses more gas compared to Highlander and it'll be harder to find a clean low mileage one.

There's no set rule as it depends a lot on how the car was taken care of and maintenance records. Also depends on how much you plan on driving it. But in general I would say 100k miles.
Based on those three, I would look at a Toyota Highlander. You may have to look for an older and higher mileage one. Make sure it has a well documented service history: oil change every 5,000 miles, transmission fluid change every 40,000 miles at a minimum.
