What are the risks of installing myself a remote starter? I asked the dealer and they couldn't do it until the end of February + it would add a separate remote. I found this canadian company (Fortin) that produces remote starters that work with the key that came with the car. The instructions seem relatively easy so I installed the evo one with thar-one-maz3. The remote starter works except that when I turn on the engine remotely the car starts with an error that the front radar is malfunctioning, which disables adaptive cruise control. I contacted the company and it seems that the only solution they gave me is to program the unit to turn off the engine when I open the door, a solution I don't like. Is it possible that this remote starter to cause other issue to the car? Thank you.
If you are going DIY, you will have to do it right and program it. If you are electrotechnically and IT inclined, you should not have any problems.
Otherwise take it to a pro who can do it correctly.
Good luck.
