Mercedes Driver Turned to Lexus After Explosion

Dear Scotty,

My automatic 2011 C-Class C180 CGI with 60,000 miles on the clock had a timing chain failure despite being confirmed healthy a few days before by the local Mercedes garage.  It went in for an unrelated failure in the rpm wheel sensor, but I also requested a check on the engine due to a check engine light indicating a crankshaft position failure, poor acceleration and a rattle.  After my car received the all clear, it soon failed stranding my wife and 1-year old child on a busy dual carriageway causing a 5-mile traffic jam.  Luckily no-one was injured.

After a complaint to the Ombudsman, the garage was found guilty of deleting records of the work performed on my car and failing to assist in an investigation.  Mercedes and the garage have not offered any compensation despite the ruling, and the Ombudsman will not take it any further without the garage releasing the information of what was actually done on my car.  Both the garage, Mercedes and the Ombudsman state it is my responsibility to provide the evidence of the work they performed, which is just mind boggling.

I am in the UK and I feel completely powerless since my next action is taking Mercedes to court, which is rather expensive here.

As a matter of last resort, I am using social media to highlight my case, but I would appreciate any knowledge of similar issues with the C180 CGI M271.9 Engine in the US, so I can add your expert knowledge.

By the way, I am now a Lexus driver, so what I am not spending on repairs, I guess I can put towards a good lawyer.

Thanks for your assistance with my case.

Regards,

James

All kidding aside, that is truly an outrage. Best of luck with the lawsuit. It sure sounds like the garage engaged in fraudulent actions.

Yes, it is an outrage.  What I didn't say is that this happened in 2018 and I have been battling ever since.  I have a video of how the engine sounded on Twitter and if you google Mercedes Benz of Stockport my review is there.  Anyway, I am sure what they are hiding will come out sooner or later.
