- HI Scott, I got a code P0340, camshaft sensor bank 1 showed on my scanned machine. I just replaced it with a new sensor. The sensor was located on the top right side of the engine but it didn't work. The engine makes a sound like tat tat tat. Can you tell me where the camshaft sensor in my car because I watched other videos of mitsubishi and the camshaft sensor is on the bottom next to the timing belt near the pulley. But the part I bought the camshaft sensor is exactly like the one I replaced on the top right side of engine. I should I do next? This problem started when I was driving on freeway and my engine shut down and had no power but was able to get out of freeway safely, but before that happened my car was shaking and didn't have enough power. Some mechanics said that my timing belt is broken but it seems fine to me, I was able to open the top cover and it is tight and look normal, the mechanic told me because the timming belt broke it also damage the 2 valves of of 4. But how do they know if they didn't open the engine? Do you think I got a defected sensor from autozone? It is made in Japan and has mitsubishi logo. What else can be? I know mechanical lie so I would like to have your opinion. Thank for all your videos and honesty.

If your timing belt broke and you have an interference engine, it is definitely within the realm of possibility that the pistons hit the valves and your motor is done.
Going off of what you just said, I would take the car to a mechanic you trust (tow it there) and see what they say as a second opinion. You don't have to open the motor up to hear damaged valves as a mechanic. Even if you can't hear the damage with your bare ear, we can use a stethoscope to pinpoint the sound and determine what happened.
