- Hello, witch is the most relaibe bmw car /engine? Thinking about bying, and i know they are an endless money pit😆 but i wan’t one.
totally agree, but if there looked after pretty well from new you will have limited issues, the trade off tho. the cars handle and drive amazing. I have the n52 with 159k miles on it. only few issues I have had are a valve cover leak vanos unit and a couple other easy fixes. they have to be maintained more often than other brand cars so really if you don't no about bmws and aren't prepared to look after them properly you shouldn't take one on. but when it comes to v8 I would stay clear of them. if you want a bmw its gotta be straight 6 in my opinion,
Inline 6 with a manuel transmission and with less than 70 thousand miles is your best bet.
The most reliable BMW is one with less than 50-60K miles on it, and that's how long the BMW warranty lasts- if you have to have one, LEASE it.
Any older bmw as long as the oil pan gasket has been replaced LOL, e36 or e30 is my personal preference. Large communities and plenty of parts swaps and cheap since there were so many made. Of course being bmw find one with some sorta maintenance history if you could LOL or if you got big bucks to spare just buy any new one they are all practically the same.
@bruceree
What do u think about 320 and 328 are they any good as first bmw car
You talking the turbo(s) ones? I wouldn't consider em as the engines have more strain applied typically. Little do you find that previous owners will baby their turbo car, cause then what's the point of a turbo car. 320I is the more economical version of the two though and 328 is far more luxurious. If you just want a bmw for the sake of a bmw get the 328, you'll have more fun with it, just be prepared to have more than general maintenance often.
I had a BMW, and to quote Scotty, it was an endless money pit. Everything cost an arm and leg to maintain.
The engines are amazing, BUT they are just damn expensive in parts and labor. I had a PCV valve go out, and needed to change the entire valve cover, to replace the valve.
I do have a soft spot for the BMW inline 6, specifically the N52. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_N52. It's a beast of an engine, and it was applied to many BMW sedans, coupes, and even SUV's. Inline 6 engines are naturally better balanced engines than Inline 4's . Which means less vibration.

What do u think about bmw V8 engine?
@kaizen
well I thonk know about the engine itself but the car's it is found in like the X5 and 5 series are total junk. If you like please type into youtube "Car Wizard BMW To buy not to buy" and you will see a video about BMW reliability.
@kaizen
the only engine I would reccomened Is the N52
@germancars
I’m not to familiar with the V8.
The BMW V8's aside from ones from the 90s and earlier, are junk with issues surrounding oil consumption, timing chain failures, valve seals, and VANOS.
