Looking for a reliable suv / hatchback or wagon under 25k with a warranty
A few options
2018 hyundai Tucson
2020 Hyundai Elantra gt
2023 Kia soul
2020 Honda Fit
2023 Suburu Impreza
thoughts on these or any others?
Fit and Impreza in your list.
Toyota CH-R, Corolla Cross, RAV4, Corolla Hatch.
Honda HR-V, CR-V, Civic Hatch.
Mazda 3 Hatch, Mazda CX-30, Mazda CX-5.
Subaru Crosstrek, Forester.
Toyota preference for longevity and reliability. But any of these should suffice.
scratch all the Korean cars off.
You don't like Toyotas?
Which Toyota? So far impossible to find one with low miles and at this price
2018 hyundai Tucson
The base engine (2.0 GDi) is known to have serious issues.
The turbocharged engine with the dual clutch is are even worse.
Avoid.
2020 Hyundai Elantra gt
Same exact issues as the Tucson, and it's rare so parts and mechanic's knowledge is an issue.
Avoid.
2023 Kia soul
H O R R I D transmission.
read complaints on "powertrain": https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2020/KIA/SOUL/SUV/FWD
2020 Honda Fit
Tiny and old, completely different car from the rest.
2023 Suburu Impreza
For that much money? it's just mediocre.
any others
Corolla hatchback, Corolla Cross, C-HR.
All of those are very durable, and prices less than / around 25k - BRAND NEW.
Also consider a Camry - it's not an SUV/Wagon/hatch but it's great in it's own right.
Thanks
Thanks. Have looked for all of those and none are available below 25k OTD price. Most dealers are adding a few thousand on msrp
just because they add something, it doesn't mean you have to pay it. I thought Toyota had fixed pricing.
Manufacturers are starting to crack down on dealerships who are gouging customers. Don't let them push you around.
Anyway, if it's still too much then go for a slightly older one.
I am skeptical you can get a Kia Soul for under 25K. There are no less than 16 Kia dealers on LongIsland and they all are tack on 5 to 8 thousand dollars above MSRP and they are not negotiating. I walked into a dealer last week looking for a car for my daughter and was told before even I sat down to be prepared for the above MSRP markups.
