I just bought a 2000 Toyota Camry with 173k miles on it. Test drove it and even hooked it up to my new obd reader before I bought it. When I bought it all I saw it needed was the transmission and differential fluids changed. Now a week later it’s thrown some weird codes causing a check engine light. First was a generic egr valve code p0401 and the next was a p0441 code and a p0446 all of them were stored codes and Not current codes when I pulled over to check it out. Should I be concerned about these? I don’t need my check engine light coming on all the time.
P0441 is an evap code. Start simple: On a 21 year old Camry, get a new OEM gas cap. The O-Ring on the cap may be failing. It's a potential cheap fix.
PO 446 goes to the evap vent valves. Before dealing with that, just replace the cap, clear codes and then get some enhanced diagnostics and live data. They should paint a picture of the current condition.
