My jetta climate control does not work.

I have a 2011 VW Jetta with a 5 speed manual and 2.5 5 cylinder engine. A month after I replaced my ignition switched (more or less bypassed it with a switch to turn on the car and a button to use the starter.) my climate control unit on the dash was working till a month later. I still have my fan and access to the heater vents but I have no A/C, recirculation, defrost, or heated seats. I have not been able to head to a junk yard yet and Autozone had a generic one for $300 but no photos of the back side where the connections are and would have to pay up front for something that may not even work before they order it.

Before you buy any parts, get (or find someone with) a VCDS/VagCom system & scan the car, to see what’s going on, and if it’s indeed a faulty HVAC unit or something else.
