Been looking for a new car and have pinned it down to this:
Torn in between a ford explorer, also sport track between 2008/2010 with 90k to 110k miles and the other option but would be almost 3k more is a 2007/2008 Toyota Fj Cruiser with 120k to 160k miles, have been told to go with ford since I can "save" more money and its easier to fix, but I feel like that extra 3k will save me a lot in other things since its a Toyota. What do you guys think?
In North America, that was the first model year and it had more issues than any other model year in that generation (model years 2007-2014), in particular transmission shudder at speeds 35-45 mph (model years 2008+ didn’t seem to have it as much) as well as bulging/cracked fenders and frames rusting. Not sure how widespread the issues were, but , ideally, it’s best to look several years into a generation when issues are usually ironed out.

The automatic transmission is a weak point and they usually go out around 120k miles.
How good are the Toyota FJ Cruisers? Don’t really see them going for sale that much, from what ive heard they are great two door SUVs. Any thoughts on them?
you can really help your chances of getting a good answer by putting a descriptive title, instead of just "question".
Amazing. FJ Cruisers, are basically 2 door, Land Cruisers with retro styling. And we all know Land Cruisers are built tough.
Good luck if you can get your hands one one!
What would be your opinions on the ford explorer sports track?, specifically a 2007.
Clarification: which engine?
Do not post duplicates please
They can be decent vehicles although you have to make sure you take care of the transmissions and watch the water pumps on the engine they start going bad changing them immediately
Water pumps are a headache. I've done a few on my neighbor's Sport Trac.
I personally don't hate them, but unless it was a great deal and passed a mechanical inspection I wouldn't purchase one.
A 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Track with 100k miles, does it have life left? would it be a good buy? Other than the water pump in the engine, what should I look out for in them?
A 2007 Toyota Fj Cruiser with 168k miles, thinking of buying one. Is that mileage too much? What things do I have to look for in a old Fj Cruiser?
i would not be scared of those miles
What is the price? There is nothing special to look for. Just check the normal items out. If the car checks out it could be a good buy.
