I have a 2010 mazda 5 with 158k miles, my mechanic says that I need the cat replaced along with the sensors. A cat replacement is worth more than the car is worth so what should i do? i just want the annoying C.E.L gone

First make sure you really need the cat not the O2 sensors.

Here is an example to test it:

If you don't have to pass an emissions test I would just put up with the light being on.

Personally speaking, with that many miles I would not spend the money on the vehicle.

What state do you live in? Do you have emissions test?

How much does it cost to replace the cat? How much is the car worth?

Then you need to scan the CEL.
