My wife wants an SUV

Hey Scotty,

My wife drives a 2012 Mazda 3, purchased new, 120k miles. Car runs perfect but she wants an SUV. I prefer to buy something used. What would you recommend? Love your channel, thanks.

Clarification: How many years and miles do you need it to last you?  Requirements for the vehicle?

Rav 4, Honda crv and Mazda cx5 are all good choices.

If she doesn't have a utility need for an SUV I might push for a AWD hybrid like a Prius Prime. There is a lot more cargo room in these that meets the eye, parking is easier, they are AWD, rarely targeted by car thieves and most importantly the MPGs are great

I don't know that the Prius has AWD as an option. The Prius has very low ground clearance so it is not very good in snow. I can attest to that. It was a constant complaint of my brother who owned one. He love the car until the winter hit. We live in Nassau county New York. We don't get much snow being right off the coast.Once a season we get a squall and every thing grinds to a halt. Keep your regional weather in mind. Mazda 3 now have a AWD version and they look like pretty good cars. They now have some connection with Toyota. You might consider another one.

I wouldn't buy Rav4 due to some electrical issues and biggest problem is fuel issue, according to repair data that I looked at. instead of Rav4, look at Highlander which is more reliable and great gas milage.

my list is:

Highlander Toyota

CX-5 Mazda

CR-V Honda

4Runner Toyota

CX-9 Mazda

Pilot Honda

Is the Rav4 fuel problem you are referring to the fuel pump problem? if it's that one the recall is for 2019-2020 models and Scotty talked about in a video today saying it's not a huge problem in the sense that Toyota issued a recall for the affected units and they'll change the fuel pump (Toyota doesn't even make the fuel pump themselves so I don't really see it as a Toyota problem).

Do you want to buy new or used?

good point since scotty mentioned that which i just watched da video and i see.... been recall on it. I've worked on em.. probably owner of that car didn't do recall on the fuel pump.
