Hi guys am having a hard time deciding which truck to buy under 8kcad. We make decks. It can be a midsize or full-size truck doesn’t matter. Toyota trucks are expensive around here. I just need a truck that can be reliable.

Also watch Scotty's truck videos (through the "does scotty think I should buy this car?" section below, scroll down to best and worst trucks) and Car Wizard also has some good ones.

It can be a good truck. Have a mechanic check the car before putting any serious money down. By the way, I don’t know about the price range in your area, look it up before you get there to possibly lower the price.

They are decent trucks, if it weren't for the fact that the mid 2000s Frontiers had a ton of transmission problems. The coolant would leak into the radiator and ruin the transmission and head gaskets were also an issue. Watch for those. If it was a few model years later I would have been more positive. That sad, if there are no issues and a mechanic says its in good shape then you could shoot them up an offer and see where it goes from there.

I saw one more it was for the same prize it had the 2.5L 4cylinder year 2009 it has 137,000km and it is a standard transmission. Should I go for this one?

This one sounds a lot more appealing, remember to have a mechanic check it out before you buy it. If everything checks out in the inspection, it could be a good truck.

Yes, up here you will pay through the nose for a Toyota Truck. If you can't afford to go Toyota then your best bet is probably to go Ford.

  • Those are actually half decent trucks, although the price does seem a bit high.

For the Nissan Frontiers, I would lower the price to $6000 maximum to $7000. It equals to around 128,000 miles. They are decent trucks. I would agree with @Kerem said about the problems with 2000s Frontiers. I don't know further problems with Frontiers. I should research more if I have time lol.

Also, its 8000 Canadian dollars which is $6500 US

@Kerem Oh ok. That's not bad. I will lower still around $6000 or less.

Hi guys I booked an appointment tomorrow to see a 2005 Nissan Frontier it has 205,000km. it is on sale for 8750cad. it’s an automatic. Is this a good deal? What should I look for when buying.

If you can find a frontier with a standard transmission or good automatic, I would go for those. Don't buy any of the GM offerings or Ford Pickups in that price range since they won't last very long.
