Hey Scotty, love your channel. I have a bit of a loaded question for you. Right now I have a manual 2022 Subaru crosstrek. Bought it new, put 45k miles on it. I do a lot of local driving at home in New Jersey then twice a year I drive across the country and back for work, I'm a wild land firefighter. My car has done great, a bit weak up mountain passes but I’m looking for something more. Basically I’m asking what you think the best vehicle is for my needs. My requirements are exceptional reliability, something I can sleep in discretely and can do light off-roading like bumpy dirt roads with out me getting concerned. From my research I considered a 2010-14 tundra which has power and reliability but eats gas when I’m traveling long distances. A 2015 and up 4Runner and I thought I loved the idea of a 2015 manual 4cyl Tacoma. I would love to have another manual transmission vehicle. My father thinks a 2015 Tacoma is to old to drive me across the country safely but from my research I though it was the one with least reported issues. I understand time can wear on parts of the vehicle and knowing what to look for in a used vehicle is important but is he right? I know he’s just looking out for me but he thinks a newer Tacoma is the better option. Also do I need 4wd for light off-roading, I would only need it for every now and then or if I find myself in bad weather. Please let me know what you think, a vehicle that is good for daily city driving and also reliable enough to drive cross country and sleep in twice a year. Should I go newer, is 2015 fine? Sorry for the long message, just a lot going on thankyou!
If you want manual the 2024 Tacoma had a manual option too, see if you can find one. This way it's manual but it's also not old. And if you take care of it it'll last some time. You might even have luck finding a brand new one left on a dealership lot, but if not and getting used just make sure to have a trusted independent mechanic check it out.
