Hello Scotty, I want to sell my high mileage car(199,571). Fortunately for me, due to a botched valve spring recall job by the Subaru dealer My 2013 Subaru Impreza wagon threw a rod and Subaru of America was left with no choice other than replacing the ruined engine with a brand new engine. This happened at 134358 miles on the odometer in feb 2019…
Since then I’ve had the valve head replaced on the transmission and replaced the rear wheel bearings. Overall the car is very clean for such high mileage.
Question: How does a lower mileage engine(65,213) effect the cars value?
Probably not at all, at least not in a positive way. For many of us an engine replacement is a red flag to begin with, and the rest of the car has near 200K miles on it.
Big mistake taking your car to the dealer. Having a motor replaced can go in a variety of directions. This "new" engine that Subaru put in probably was an engine from a junkyard. I would get rid of it right now.
