- Hey Scotty, I recently bought a used 2019 Honda Civic with 16,000 miles. Whenever I brake the brake pedal pulsates and the car shakes. Also sometimes you can hear the brakes make a grinding noise of some sort. It has a bubble in the rear passenger tire but the dealership said that couldn’t be the problem and the brakes look fine. Thoughts?
First of all, this is not a new Honda Civic, … it is a used one!
Second, … it doesn’t take 16,000 miles to ruin a new, perfectly good car, but just someone’s wicked will to destroy a good thing! So I wouldn’t blame the car.
In fact, I have a theory that goes something like this: … someone got a brand new car, … next that someone drove the hell out of it, … than got rid of it, … and now some other someone owns it! Pity, …
Anyway, … so now you own it, … this Civic! And so, I suggest you take it - pronto - to a reputable garage and splurge on a thorough inspection of this car.
Thorough, … because otherwise you won’t know what else might be wrong with this car? Could be nothing, … could be not much more than what you already identified, … or it could be a catastrophic situation!
Once you know the whole story, only than you will be able to decide how to proceed next, … and remember - for the future - the sequence of of event purchasing a car: find a car - inspect the car - buy the car if it come up to expectations!
Best,
F.S.
Take it to an independent mechanic & have them check the rear brakes.
Swap the rear tyres to the front & check if the symptoms persist.
Buy a new tyre. Did it have the bubble when you purchased the car?
