Scotty,

I have been waiting your videos for sometime and love them. I thought you would love hear this scumbag dealer story that I just experienced.

Now I have been working on cars and motorcycles for about 26 years now. There is a couple who have been coming to me for 20 years now. They have been married for 68 years. She is 94 and he is 97. Back in 1961 they bought new a Ford Falcon, the car has over 250,000km and it was taken care of. They babied this car. They don't drive as much as they once did, but they still take it out to go shopping, maybe a short vacation in the summer. No rust, the automatic transmission and engine work like a clock, the chrome is perfect. It basically still look like a new car.

I have worked on this car for them as I said for about 29 years. Four weeks I was away and when they went out to do some shopping. When they got back to their car it would not start. It was dead. They walked over to the ford dealership right next to the shopping mall. First the dealer charged them 200$ to tow the car 500 meters. And then told them the car was too old and the engine was beyond repair and they should by a new one. And walked them towards a 2020 Ford Fusion..

They left the Falcon at the dealership and told told them they would come back the next day. They took a taxi home. The next day I saw them and noticed that the car was not in their driveway and asked them what happened. They said the Falcon's engine was deal. Right after I went with them to the Ford dealership and brought my kit. First the people at the dealership were not happy. At first I did't let on that I work on cars and bikes and when I did they got annoyed.

Then I check it on the lot of the Ford dealership. Guess what the problem was? It was nothing more than the alternator, which I should add was the original alternator put on the car when rolled off the production line. I paid myself to have it towed back to my shop. Ordered a new alternator for 179$. The battery was still good as I installed a new one in 2019.

What the F.......... is wrong with the dirty, scum, dealers or repair centers.

You know what they also did? they pretended to connect a computer to the Falcon and showed the couple that because the computer was not reading anything the engine was dead. I would like to know how they connected it up to a port which does not even exist on a Falcon from 1961? What dirty b*******! I'm so pissed at people car mechanics and dealers like this.

I suggest you read the forum rules before posting again.

Fixed. Next time, please make an effort to censor out the expletives. We have 14-15yr olds visiting this website daily. Thanks for your co-operation.

Don't worry, I have heard worse, but I think he should have been professional on an online forum.

I would post your story on Google and Yelp reviews, their facebook page if they have one, etc. Warn everyone you can.

This is why they call such places "stealerships." It's the rule, rather than the exception, these days. I've seen the same lies and greed here in Central Texas.

If I remember well (and as a very young child, I remember being a fairly frequent passenger in a very pale green Falcon), these Falcon's had, for the day, excellent gas mileage.

Obviously, both you and they have treasured this car. I hope they leave it to you, in their will. "Long May It Run." You're a good man.

Yes, those old Falcons were very economical but also pretty slow with the standard 144 CID six, especially when paired with the 2-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission. An around town runabout and grocery-getter, not a turnpike cruiser.

Amazingly bad experience there even by the low standards of stealerships. Every time you think you've seen the worst scam they can pull off they never fail to dive even deeper into the muck.

A 1961 model though if original would have a generator, not an alternator. (As I recall Ford did not adopt alternators until 1965.) Definitely want to keep that puppy running and in great shape!

Thanks for the clarification, Chuck.

Yes. I'm just so use to calling it an alternator now.

I still see current wiring diagrams refer to it as a generator. Because it is.

Don't forget that a generator needs to be polarized any time the battery is disconnected.

As was explained to you, this is a family friendly, public forum. Instead of vulgarities, try to use civil language to explain your question. Just pretend you're talking to respectable people in a public place like a library, bank, supermarket etc. Try not to treat it like a construction site or sailing vessel. Thanks. The stars are pointless. We know what you're saying.

Thanks for sharing your story.

I hate dealership service. I’ve only met a handful of advisors who don’t seem like they are trying to nickel and dime me.

Just for the heck of it, send a letter to the CEO of Ford. Maybe the dealer will be reprimanded and forced to refund the towing charge.

Why what did I post that was so wrong?

did you read the rules?

Yes, I did. And?

Where did I swear?

@keithcar as far as I saw you covered everything up and the rules were followed. It’s to bad that a lot of these dealerships prey on people like that.

Where did I swear?

right in the title if I recall, and then a few times throughout. Maybe you do it subconsciously?

Anyway, somebody was kind enough to clean it up for you.

No. If you mean "What the F.......... is wrong with the dirty, scum, dealers or repair centers.
" and What dirty b*******! I'm so pissed at people car mechanics and dealers like this. No one cleaned it up. I wrote it like that.
