How long is "too long" to wait for a shop to build a transmission I have a 93 gmc c3500 wich needs a new transmission (4L80-E). I ordered a remanufatured one from an online retailer, with the understanding that they build to order. However it's been nearly a month, no news, when pressed about this I was told if i don't want to wait I can have a refund. Should I keep waiting? Or cancel, cut my time loss, and go with a more expensive provider who promises 1 week delivery?

Did you order something special? 4L80s are jellybean transmissions. If the company is any good, they should have a warehouse stocked full of them ready to go.

yes

Okay, after getting real quotes from everyone else google suggests... the 4L80E for the 6.5L diesel is a "special" thing having to be done specific and 3-4 weeks out (and double the price i paid) should I still cancel? or give it another couple weeks?

if you've called all the big guys (Jasper, Powertrain Products, etc.) and they still don't have any then there must be a shortage. Not surprising with car prices being what they are. In that case stick with your first order I guess.
