New toyota engine and transmission

Hello, does the new toyota engine have any known problems so far? and has the transmission issues of the 2019 years been ironed out?

Also is this thesame 8 speed transmission used in the lexus rx-350?

Also the new lexus nx will be offering a non-turbocharged engine, which I think is a great option with regards to less complexity and reliability, will this be based on the rav4's engine and 8-speed transmission?

Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledgeable opinions.

Which new Toyota engine & which vehicle are you considering, presently?

The toyota 2019 to present engine, was considering the lexus nx, until I found out a 4 cylinder non-turbocharhed version will be available in 2022, and it will be based on the present toyota engine and transmission.

Too early to talk about longevity but they can not last as long as the NA engines. The new engines have GDI and that itself put stress on the engine. About the 8 speed AT, the issues are resolved.

Oh okay thanks.

The new 2022 Lexus NX with the non-turbocharged engine option is the 2.5L naturally aspirated I4 (A25A-FKS part of the new Dynamic Force Series engines introduced since 2018).  This is one of the engines also used in the Toyota Avalon, Camry, RAV4, Highlander, and Lexus ES250 and while no issues yet long term reliability is not known.  One thing that has become clear is you need to change engine oil every 5,000 miles and not 10,000 miles (that Toyota/Lexus claims);  seems these engines don’t like to go 10,000+ miles between oil changes.  The engine has both port and direct injection;  in fact lots of Toyota/Lexus engines have both and they have been holding up.  With some exceptions, Toyota does not offer a purely GDI setup in most of their lineups.

The 8-speed AT is not the same one used in the Lexus RX350.  Instead, it’s the one used in the RAV4, Camry, and other Toyota’s.

Thanks for the info, my sister was hoping the get the new nx, she was gonna settle for the old one with a turbocharger, but since they'll be a non-turbocharged version which an already tested engine and transmission, I recommended she waits for it. Theoretically it should be a better option compared to the turbocharged nx 300 and 200t right?

I would say, in theory, yes it should be.

Okay thanks. I'd update you of she gets it, she'd experiment it for us, cause presently her option is either the new or old nx, but it's gonna be the nx.

@Daywalker thank you very much for taking the time to respond.
