New Toyota Landcruiser vs Older Model Landcruiser

Hello Scotty.  I have seen several of your Toyota Landcruiser and truck videos and know you think highly of them.  Toyota is bringing back the Landcruiser to the US in 2024 but it will be a 4 cylinder with a turbo.  They will be cheaper than the Landcruiser 200 series even as a new vehicle.  Probably significantly better gas mileage as well but Toyota hasn't released that info yet.  I am currently driving a 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser that I love but have always dreamed of owning a Landcruiser one day.  Thoughts?

Here’s another thought:  Check on Bring a Trailer to see what prices are going for on FJ Cruisers.  When I looked years ago FJs esp. the special editions and low mileage were doing really well.  Anyways, this gives you an idea of what yours could be worth.  For the right price, I would be tempted to cash out and get something else.  You only live once.

.

But, I would not get the new Land Cruiser until it’s been out for a long while and we see what issues it has.

Yeah.  The FJ's are holding their value quite well.  I started with an 08 FJ and the 2010's and up were much better.  Need to wait on the LC to see how things go with them as well.

Thanks.

Keep your FJ Cruiser.

Keep you FJ Cruiser and also buy a 200 series Land Cruiser if you like it. There are nice clean ones out there if you're willing to spend the money.

If you already own an FJ Cruiser, keep the FJ Cruiser.  That is one of the best cars Toyota has ever made, IMHO. I consider it to be the spiritual successor of the older two door Land Cruisers.

If you don't own an FJ, get the new Land Cruiser.

Well, keeping the FJ seems to be a strong consensus so far.  Never really thought about getting rid of it until recently.  Was looking at older Landcruiser models when I learned about the new Landcruiser coming back to the US.
