Will my Nissan CVT fail after changing the fluid?

Hi Scotty I have a 2014 Nissan murano with 56000 miles.  I brought it to my local mechanic for a transmission fluid change and he told me he doesn't work on those transmissions and to have the dealer do it. He also said it would probably fail about 6 months after the fluid change.  The transmission shifts fine, I am just looking to do regular maintenance.  Your thoughts?  Did I wait too long?  By the way my mechanic is an honest guy like you and has a good reputation.

The Nissan 2014 Service and Maintenance Guide says every 60,000 miles

Sounds like your mechanic is having a very bad day.  Put your arm around him and tell him everything is going to be all right.  Or go somewhere else and get the work done.

Just make sure you do NOT flush it and use correct Nissan CVT fluid.

For those JATCO CVTs, I would change the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles max.  Not changing the fluid on those will only further reduce its lifespan.
