Hi I have a 2003 Chevy impala 3.8 I need a air intake hose, but the one for my car is discontinued. Called the dealership with no luck for a sit ti le replacement. The hose is between the intake box & throttle body.., but mine has the air temperature sensor connection. I’ve seen similar ones, but they don’t have the air temperature sensor connection, so Igor do I go about driving without that sensor or what am I supposed to do. Please help

  • repair the one you have, or
  • find the correct at a salvage yard
  • find an aftermarket replacement
  • Find a similar one from a different vehicle
  • Make one out of generic material

I don't know who Igor is.

So first, you can't just eliminate the IAT sensor.

The IAT sensor is used to measure the temperature of the air entering the engine.

The purpose of measuring the air temperature is to identify the density of the air.

Cold air is denser than hot air and the computer has to add more fuel to cold air than hot air.

Your Impala will run without the IAT sensor, but it won't run as well.

And you're right. You can't find that intake hose anywhere.

The ones you can find look like an accordion and there isn't a flat spot on them where you could drill and install a grommet for your IAT sensor.

In your shoes I'd just buy an aftermarket air intake. They're usually sold by "performance shops" but you don't need a $300 High Performance" type. For around $40 you can get one that will work fine for you.

Usually, when a part becomes obsolete at the dealership you can usually still find it in the aftermarket.
