I have a 1977 Pontiac Bonneville Brougham 4 door, i want to make it my rebuild project and i have encountered the first trouble. I ran out of gas, i put more than 2 gallons in it and it just wont start, i have replaced the pump and nothing, checked for any leaks and nothing, i took off the tank thinking the gas tank was dirty and maybe clogged but the fuel tank was really clean, I grabbed my two gallon container filled with gas and connected it to the pump and it worked, i am soon to by the new fuel tank because the old one had some gasket i broke when taking it off. Any ideas or suggestions i may need to know when reinstalling the new fuel tank? Thanks!
Just make sure you put all the lines back on and all the electrical connections back on when you put it in and you don't get anything stuck because as you jack the tank back up you can easily bend or break stuff
Thank you for replying, after placing everything back one with care, should everything work just fine?

It depends what else might be wrong with it. A lot can happen to a car in 46 years.
Car was kept in good conditions, done every oil change accordingly with its brakes pad changes. Not saying there is not a chance for some other stuff to be wrong with it but so far ive had it for a year and the only thing wrong with it is what happening now. Any suggestions on what i should look for in replacing or maintaining or even improvements???
Get things working in stock condition first. If you're not in a location that tests for emissions you may be able to remove some of the crude emission controls for better performance and mileage.
