OBD II Scanner

Hello,

Do OBD II scanners also check for the car's computer health?

Just a little concerned that my 2016 Lexus RX 350 with 37k miles might have electronic problems underneath.

Thank you!

Sometimes. Doesn't hurt to try.

What are your concerns (or indicators) that your ECU may just have a problem? What are you experiencing? For example:

- does Check Engine Light stays on after resetting?

- does engine turning off for no reason?

- you observe intermittent starting problems?

- your ECU gets hot?

- your scan tool drops off communication with the ECU intermittently?

… stuff like that. All that indicates a computer problem!

I don't experience any of these at all.

I only became concerned because while jumpstarting another car, the recipient car had its engine turned on. My engine was also on, and Scotty said two alternators running at the same time could mess up the electronics.

Well, … as long as polarity of booster cables were not mixed up, … just keep driving! No harm done, … but for the next time, just get yourself one of those "Start Dead Batteries" NOCO doo-hickie, throw it into the trunk - charged, … and be a hero again if someone needs a boost!

Thank you!!!
