4 cyl. Camry with 252,900 miles. I keep up with oil changes every 7k. The engine continues to run flawlessly. It doesn't burn oil. The mechanic who did my last oil change this morning told me the oil "smelled clean". Should an engine with high miles like mine used an additive like Lucas or BG products or is just changing the oil good enough?

Your Camry doesn't need any "snake oil" additives. Just change the oil and filter, preferably every 5000 miles and not every 7000 miles.
Most additives do little more than empty your wallet. Just stick with a quality oil.

if everything is going well, and the mechanic thinks your oil smells clean, then why change your routine?
Changing the oil regularly makes the most impact so stay on that, and since your miles are getting up there now, you might think about reducing your interval to 5k.
Agreed, I would start changing it at 5k, but that’s all you need to change about your routine.
