Oil change every 2000 miles

Question: in a modern vehicle, say a 2021 Tacoma TRD Off-road (which is GDI I believe), what we would doing oil changes every 2000 miles have on the engine/ overall health of the vehicle long term (15-20 years later)?

I have a feeling the answer is obvious, but given the complexity of the modern vehicle, it wouldn’t surprise me if this actually damage the engine.

thanks in advance!

Changing the engine oil every 2,000 miles will not hurt the engine other than your pocketbook and seems excessive even for ‘severe duty’ applications;  that being sad, you don’t want just anyone performing the oil change as they can mess it up (I’d be more concerned about who is doing my oil change).

But generally, you’d want to change it out (along with the filter) every 5,000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first.  Now, if you stretched it out to, say, every 10,000 miles or longer I would be concerned.

Yes. The main problem is that is more opportunities to make a mistake with nothing to gain.

The biggest damage would be the financial cost.

1 year/5k miles is recommended. Every 2k miles is definitely excessive.
