Oil Filter

Topic starter

I currently have a 2016 Jetta for over 125k miles, I have been using the VW AUDI OEM oil filter. I recently found those FRAM extra guard, FRAM Ultra Synthetic oil filter, and BORSH Premium Filter. What are your thoughts on those filters?

Scotty likes Bosch filters. Make sure you get the premium one and not the low end one.

Stay away from the FRAM. Garbage filters.

That's why we stopped carrying them at my work.

Personally I like the WIX XP ones, but get the Bosch out of those options.

@rpmartin32
why do you say they're garbage?

@mountainmanjoe
Just personal experiences. They’re the only brand I’ve ever had that crumbles when I squeeze them with an oil filter wrench to get them off.

@rpmartin32
Have you had one crumble while still on the car?

@rpmartin32
lol @ the crumbling. Thats like saying that you only drink from gatorade bottles because other bottles crumble when you drink from them. Really it's the filtering material that matters.

@itaintright

actually it's like saying gatorade tastes terrible because I can crush the bottle with my hand after i'm finished drinking it.

nothing from fram for sure

@mrrangerzr1
Fram has a range of filters. The premium ones do a good job at filtering.
