Oil in my '04 Corolla intake manifold

Hey Scotty, today i took off my throttle body and saw that there was a oil in my intake manifold, I believe this is the thing that's causing my car to exhaust a white/grey smoke, I thinking of replacing the pcv valve, do you think it will help?

Thank you and have an awesome day!

Type, miles and year of car and motor might help. Amount of oil will be helpful. Was if a film or a half quart?

You might check for hose leaks to PCV and PCV. Replacing PCV will not hurt. Might check compression of motor as well.

It's a 2004 toyota corolla 179,000 miles

Yes. It looks like your PCV valve is stuck open and letting in large amounts of oil into your intake tract. Replacing it should fix your problem, and that's assuming your engine is not burning oil from bad piston rings.

So I checked the spark plugs and they're cover in oil, and the white/grey smoke still coming out

Well thats unlucky but look at the bright side there’s an easy fix. I’m pretty sure your spark plug tube seals might be leaking since there’s oil on the spark plugs but thats very rare for a car that’s barely 17 years old. The bright side would be that you could go to your local autozone (or whatever is nearby) and get a valve cover gasket + spark plug tube seal kit and replace the seals at home. It’s fairly straightforward and cost effective so I’d say give it a shot.

Start with the pcv valve first cause it’s cheap and cross your fingers. Tube seals won’t cause the combustion side of the spark plug to have oil on them that’s pretty straightforward blow by but if crank case pressures are to high which is possible to be the pcv valve

A failed PCV valve can cause that. They are cheap so you might as well change it.

Well i changed the pcv valve, and cleaned the spark plugs, car turned on normally, then i let it run for around 30 minutes, white/grey smoke coming the entire time, then i heard the engine starting to misfired, checked the spark plugs and oil got on them again

check if there's oil in the PCV tube, and it's not just residual oil

And the oil is on the part where the spark is made

Sounds like time to stick a nail in it I think it’s cooked

@alicc04
If there is oil on the tip of the spark plug, then your piston rings are done for. And if your piston rings are done for, then so is engine compression. Sorry to hear about this...sounds like you need a new car.
