Oil Leak F150

Okay this one stumps me. I have a 90 F150 86k miles has the 5.0L automatic transmission. Now I have an oil leak either from the oil pan gasket or the rear main seal. BUT! when I check the oil dipstick there is no loss of oil. Now the bell housing has a 2 plates to where I can sort of see the fly wheel and inside the bell housing and it looks dry as a bone but the oil leak between the little inspection plate that is attached to the bottom of the bell housing and that is where I see a leak. I looked at the oil pan and I do have wet oil on the bolts of the pan nearest to the transmission SO could this be a rear main seal or an oil pan gasket leak and is it weird not to see oil drop on my dip stick?

Also it is definitely oil leaking because of the color and taste LOL.

did it taste good?

It’s hard to say without putting it on a lift. I would pour a bottle of AT 205 reseal in the crankcase and drive it for about an hour above 55mph. It’s a very inexpensive  option for a 30 year old vehicle. You can pick up a bottle at any parts store.

I did put some in the oil but unfortunately it didn't work. For a while it was leaking on and off but I noticed on warm days it leaks but cold days it does not. Also doesn't leak when it is parked, only when operating is when it leaks.

Could be anything then, get it on a lift and find out where its coming from.

I would use a UV dye detector to pinpoint where the leak is coming from, and then go from there.  Scotty has a video showing how if you’ve never done it.  It’s helped me a bunch of times!
