[Solved] Oil Pressure Sign Problem on Volkswagen

Hello everyone! I have a problem with my 2013 Volkswagen Touran 1.6 TDI. Recently, the oil pressure light came on warning me that I had to shut off my engine. I shut off my engine and let it cool down for at least 10-15 minutes. I started my engine again and it said nothing for the rest of the day. The next day, it kept displaying the oil pressure sign. So, I replaced the oil pressure sensor and I even had my mechanic to reset the error code. However, it keeps displaying the problem. Any solutions to this because I've felt like the previous oil pressure sensor was working fine?

Also, I recently had my engine oil and filter changed. Are there anything else need sorting out?

Good evening everyone. The leaking problem could not be found (but most mechanics/dealers assumed it was from the turbo which was an expensive job anyways) so we traded it in for a 2020 Corolla Hybrid. Thanks for the help, anyways 🙂

Sounds like a good move! Toyota has the best hybrid system and that vehicle is new enough that it should still provide years of trouble-free operation.

Indeed!

Measure the oil pressure to make sure it is at proper level. If it checks out ok, then you may have some computer issue.

As far as the oil pressure goes verify the actual pressure with a mechanical gauge. You can use UV dye to help find the source of the leak.

Thanks for the help, friend! It turns out it was a computer issue. Basically, the socket plug for the oil pressure sensor was broken since the previous mechanic did a rough job! Its now being replaced by the VW dealership for around $450. Quite expensive but should do the job!

It could be leaking at the rear main seal, necessitating transmission removal to fix.  Critical to find the source of the leak and not just guess.  The pressure problem, if not the oil pressure sensor, could be a failing oil pump or a defective gauge.

Good evening from the UK! I have a 2013 Volkswagen Touran 1.6 TDI which has over 181,000 miles on the clock (used for taxi). The oil pressure light keeps coming up after driving for a while. I tried to rectify this problem by changing some of its components (rocker gasket, injector seals, oil pressure sensor) yet it is still leaking a tiny drop of oil when left stationary overnight. Also, I went to other local mechanics and they said that the turbo is leaking (but there are no signs of a bad turbo such as bad performance, noises or smoke). Took the car to the dealership and after inspection said that it was the crankshaft in which to access it, gearbox needs to be removed, turbo and oil sump needing replacing but they wouldn't clean it. I felt like they were overcharging me so I only paid for the inspection. Oil and filter was recently changed yet still the same problem. This time, I took it to an independent mechanic and said it could be a dirty oil sump, pickup pipe or electrical fault.

Any idea what is the cause for the tiny oil leak and this annoying oil pressure warning or should I go for another car??
