Hey Scotty, Hey members of the website.
We have decided to buy a Corolla Cross. So I'm having these questions :
1) Does the manufacturing place make a difference (eg: a Toyota made in Japan vs. a Toyota made in U.S.A) ?
2) What do you think of its reliability ?
3) Are Toyota's CVTs viable ?
I know for sure that the Corolla Cross shares the same engine as the Corolla sedan or hatch, but i'm not sure how to interpret this.
Thank you for the reply, have a good day!
They should be good cars but I would wait a year or so to make sure the kinks are figured out. I have not seen a first year model of Toyota which did not bring new problems. But generally yeah the CVTs are pretty good and they should be reliable as long as they don't mess up, which they ALWAYS do on the first year of the generation. Take for example the Corolla hatchback. In its first year it had cvt problems. Or the 2018 Camry, it had transmission problems. If I were you I would wait for late 2021 and see what happens. Maybe they will be made like junk like the 06-08 Rav4 was, or maybe they would be extremly reliable transportation like most Corollas.
But this is true for all new models if you have to get one you might as well get a Corolla. Plus if they are using the same engine transmisison etc. then it should be pretty reliable.
Corolla Cross is using the same engine and tranny from Corolla SE. If Corolla SE is good, then Corolla Cross will also be good.
Toyota actually makes the best cvts in the world. Now since the crosses are new I can't say how they will last only time will tell that but going by Toyota corolla's histories they should be very good cars
I’d buy it. But it’s not available in the US.
