New radiator fans

Radiator is cracked

Thermostat was older want new

I heard adding water is fine so I've been doing that

While I drive like barely get on the highway it'll call slowly to a little over middle and we'll even at idle it doesn't necessarily go down but It will if I don't accelerate alot and I'd appreciate any opinion

Radiator is cracked

Why haven't you replaced it?

Same here, if the car is overheating why haven't you replaced an old thermostat?

Where did you hear that? It's nonsense.

Replace the obviously suspect parts in your cooling system. See the troubleshooting section of the FAQ. There is a lot of information on diagnosing an overheating condition.

@chucktobias lol well I'm kinda poor barely getting by so I'm just trying to see if I can do something else I heard if a radiator cracks that means something else caused that

Well I can understand that, been there, done that, and who knows may wind up with that situation again before the end, you never know. (I drive a car older and with higher mileage than yours because I'm cheap!) The trouble is that if you keep letting the car overheat you're going to wind up with a much more expensive problem to deal with.

That is completely untrue. Plastic radiator end tanks crack due to age and that thing is 17 years old if original. The radiator could be clogged as well. By spending some money on a radiator and thermostat now you may be saving yourself from having to deal with a blown head gasket later, which is a lot more expense possibly meaning vehicle replacement. (Hopefully that has not happened yet.)

Rockauto shows a Valeo radiator for that car, including a new cap, available for about $70:

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/honda,2007,accord,2.4l+l4,1433638,cooling+system,radiator,2172

(Speaking of radiator caps make sure yours is OK, replace if it's ancient! That can lead to coolant loss.)

OEM is best for the thermostat but Rockauto does have an Aisin replacement (a decent brand) for about $30:

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/honda,2007,accord,2.4l+l4,1433638,cooling+system,thermostat,2200

Of course you have to add shipping and tax, but if you do an online search you should be able to find a 5% discount code, Rockauto always has one available.

@chucktobias thank you Chuck lol wish you were dad I omyl say that cause we'll you've given me so kuch information and we'll I don't have ny parents like taht so I'm kinda just learning and growing if anything I'm planning on doing a new thermostat fo the mean time cause the when I was gonna replace it looked older like it had rust or corrosion on it but since I have been adding water should I just keep doing that or what should I do cause ik the dilute one is more expensive and we'll it's not on my budget ATM but my wife's kinda start working agian so I'll be able to make this car run for a while longer but I'd like advice from your specifically if that's okay cause I domt have time to learn from anymore at a place and we'll you know your stuff and I'd like to get wisdom from you wether it's about cars or life but mainly car as it's my daily and I can't afford anything else but thank you either way I appreciate you responding so much and we'll being a good role model to me especially maybe I'll male something I can actually do and we'll help the younger generations aswell

@usgxviper Certainly replacing the thermostat is a good place to start, though the crack in the radiator is concerning, it's only going to get worse. It's quite possible that old radiator is clogged as well which leads to overheating problems. If you're going to keep topping up the radiator it would be best to use a 50/50 mix of water and coolant. Pure water will wind up corroding aluminum engine parts over time. Once again, you're looking at a whole lot more expense coming down the road by not spending a little now.

Now normally I don't recommend band-aid/snake-oil type products but if you're stuck with that leaking radiator for now, you could try the J.B. Weld radiator repair kit for a temporary repair. Here's a video about it:

@chucktobias thank you
