p0032 code

I have a 2008 chrysler sebring convertable with very low mileage, 8900 kilometeres. It is an automatic 2.7 litre motor. {black}:idontknow: I just got a p0032 code and the check engine light is on. I replaced the o2 sensor with a new one. Started the car and the sensor started smoking very badly and got really hot. Is this normal? Also the check engine light is still on and I can not reset it. When the o2 sensor gets hot the car runs really rough. I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and only use the car for errands around town as I am 70 years old and have medical problems and very little money to spend.  Any help would be appreciated.

Follow the troubleshooting on this page, or take it to a mechanic.

If the replacement sensor you put in wasn't OEM or the wiring is screwed up, the heating element is burning up.  This means either the sensor is junk, it's wired wrong or there is a problem with the ECM.
