- Hi Scotty, I have a 2012 Toyota Tacoma SR5 Prerunner V6, it's an automatic with 107,000 miles on it. About a month ago I had a code P0219b, I took it to the dealer to track down what it was. They said to replace fuel injector in cylinder number 6. I had my son in law replace it because he has worked as a mechanic before, and he also went to school for mechanics. After he replaced the injector, the P0219b went away, but 2 weeks later I got a code P0306, misfire in cylinder number 6. We replaced the sparkplug, that didn't work, we replaced the coil, and that didn't work. I don't know what else to do next. The truck is hard to start sometimes, and there's a gas smell coming from the exhaust, but goes away after it warms up. Please help, thanks.
Do the compression test on cylinder number 6.
Dealer did compression test, compression is good.
It could also be a vacuum leak at the intake manifold runner that serves cylinder 6.
Thanks, I'll check that out.
You should swap that injector from cylinder six with a different cylinder to see if the misfire follows the injector since that was a new code after the injector was installed I would start there
That's what I'd like to do, especially since the new injector that was installed is an aftermarket. My son in-law just wants to replace it with a factory injector instead of swapping it to another cylinder to see if the code follows, he says it too much work. I'm just ready to take it to the dealer and have them do it. Frustrated!
if he’s capable and willing it would be cheaper to have him do it but swapping it is the cheapest way to be certain before spending money on another injector. Also if it makes any difference I wouldn’t have faith in an aftermarket injector
Thanks, I really appreciate the input.
