I have a 01 Grand Vitara (4x4, 5-speed manual, 2.5L V6) that has code P0440. I have tried clearing it (when I got the vehicle, it was missing a gas cap, I have since replaced it with a new cap), but it still comes back. I see that it is a generic EVAP malfunction code, and any help as to where I should look next (possibly cleaning where the gas cap seats?) to clear the code. No loss of fuel mileage. I have had the code appear at an idle or at 65MPH.
