i have a question. so i recently had my CEL come on almost a couple of weeks ago (august 24) and it was for p0443 evap canister purge valve circuit malfunction. I was gonna try and fix it, but i cleared the code on accident when i was tryinh to clear abs/vsa codes that came from a low charged battery. Would i be able to pass emissions if the code hasnt come back after almost a couple weeks of driving? wouldn't that signify that it's already been through a drive cycle and with all that time passing, and the CEL never came back on? or would i still have to address the issue? i dont think its my gas cap since im kinda assuming that the CEL would have cam back on already. thanks
the code hasnt come back after almost a couple weeks of driving? wouldn't that signify that it's already been through a drive cycle and with all that time passing
No it doesn't signify that. Check if the emissions readiness tests passed in the scan tool. That's exactly what they're there for.
or would i still have to address the issue?
Use your purge valve test function to check if it's working.
i got it resolved. my amateur do it yourselfer brain decided to finally kick in and look at my scan tool's other capabilities lol. i looked at the i/m readiness and the evaporative system was the only one incomplete (shows INC on scan tool), but it still passed earlier today. i did a little homework haha but thanks anyways Joe 👍
You still have to address the issue, it will definitely come back.
yes for the most part i got it addressed. i finally decided to make better use of the functionalities of my scan tool lol i passed my emissions inspection with ease earlier today
Congrats!
