Dear Scotty
Hope everything is well. Thank you for all your wonderful and informative YouTube videos about cars.
I have a 2017 Toyota Camry SE with a 2.5 liter 2AR-FE 4 cylinder engine with 48,505 miles.
Recently, my scan tool code reader showed P2610 (ECM/PCM Internal Engine Off Timer Performance) as a pending code.
If the check engine light came on with this P2610 code( ECM/PCM Internal Engine Off Timer Performance) is it safe to continue to drive with this code on a 100 mile trip?
Based on your lengthy experience, what causes P2610 code to come on ?
Should I bring this problem to the Toyota dealership or to the local independent mechanic shop for diagnostic and or repairs?
How likely will this repair covered or not covered by either under Toyota powertrain or emission control warranty?
Does the ECM and or PCM (computer) had to be reprogrammed and or replaced?
Is this related to T-SB-0276-17 Toyota Technical Service Bulletin?
The car was manufactured during August 2016 and sold in September 2016 as a 2017 model.
I am the second owner of the vehicle. I just purchased the vehicle 3 months ago from a dealership with no extended warranty. I had only driven this car for only 700 miles so far. I am not sure/ aware whether or not the car was previously involved in any collision or repairs, but a pre-purchase mechanical inspection showed P2109 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor "A" Minimum Stop Performance and P1604 Start Ability Malfunction as 2 of the Engine History codes? The battery was replaced sometime in 2019.
Thank you very much in advance for your time and expertise.
Sincerely,
Peter
It has not been on yet. Wait to see if the check engine light comes on.
