Hi everyone. I have a 2015 Hyundai Genesis that has been losing battery strength. The battery is not old. With Covid-19 restrictions combined with being retired, the car has not been driven a great deal. I connected my ammeter in series with the battery and found a 3A draw but this has not been consistent. I've looked at several Youtube videos and see that people attack the analysis in different ways. I'm looking for answers in regards to a method providing the most accurate analysis. Thanks in advance

Hmm my thought would be towards the battery starting to get weak unless it's been replaced since new the battery that is in the car new doesn't typically last more then 4 to 5yrs, you could try charging the battery up disconnected from the vehicle n check static voltage as in no draw on it to confirm the battery is either good or starting to get weak, also running the vehicle a few times a week would be a good idea also if possible just warm it up or take a small drive if possible also
Well the issue is attacked in different ways even by mechanics. It depends in part what equipment you have to use. A multimeter is what I would use and would check that the ground wires are making a good connection to the chassis first. That's probably the easiest troubleshooting to do so I would start there.
Thanks for the feedback!
Install battery trickle charger/maintainer...automatically turns on/off as needed to maintain full charge. Plug in or solar powered.
