Permanent code Honda Pilot

Hey Scotty Nick from NY here, so I have a 2016 Honda Pilot 49,500 miles. I was driving on one of those NY bridges that are always under construction, as I approached the construction area my mitigation system kicked in and started braking. Before I could turn it off it lit up on dash mitigation error.

I’ve been read in other forums of people experiencing the same problem entering construction area and getting the same permanent code. They would have to take it to the dealer to get it off and being overcharged. I tried a scan tool but doesn’t even detect it. I was thinking to try what you did in your video regarding permanent codes.

What do you think? Would I need to re-enter the radio code or have any problem with the car re-starting? Any advice would be of great help.

Thanks Scotty

Well, if it started breaking by itself there's nothing you can personally do. You're going to need a mechanic like me with the dealer level scan tool to check that system out. It's very complex stuff. When it does break down, it's a real stinker defects. There's so many different sensors and interplay with the anti-lock braking system it would make your head spin.

Well looks like I have to take it to them. I have been reading up on this stuff and it seems people have had this happen to them . They drive  through a construction area with these orange cones everywhere where, your vehicle comes across a few of the cones and the radar thinks it’s mitigating a collision and your system starts to brake. When you don’t brake it continues thinking it’s mitigating a collision and the computer gets flooded with this information and it throws up the “mitigation problem on the dash “ and you can’t get the stupid thing off. Lesson boys and girls if you drive through a construction zone turn your mitigation system off until you exit it. Scotty I miss my 92 Camry lol.

thanks
