[Solved] Porsche Boxster Oil Pressure

Topic starter

Porsche Boxster 986 (1998)

2.5L 5spd M

129K miles (issue started at 126.5k miles)

Few months back my water pump started leaking and my engine started to overheat before I shut it off, it hadn’t got all the way to end of gauge. After I got it back from my mechanic on idle usually when the clutch pedal is pressed or if I have the A/C on the idle keeps jumping from 500 to 1200 rpm and the oil pressure light starts flashing. I’ve driven it from Dallas to Houston since and daily to work so it doesn’t seem critical but it is concerning. It only does this on idle.

I don’t intend to get rid of the car tho as I’ve done all the work myself or with my mechanic. But also don’t wanna spend hundreds for a simple diagnosis.

Who knows you might have Disturbed or damaged the oil pressure sensor me I would just change that out first and pray it's not an internal pressure problem which you could course check with an oil pump pressure gauge that you could hook up and test it
