Hello Scotty, how are you doing?
Today I have a followup question regarding my ae110 with 5afe engine. This time I changed the steering rack and power steering motor. Everything is fine when I cold start the car. My steering is smooth when the car engine is cold. When I drive there is no hardness. But problem is when I park the car in tight spot. It makes slight whining noise or you can say humming noise when parking. This sound comes when the car is warmed up. Moreover at that time the steering becomes hard. When I press the throttle in neutral by turning the steering the sound gets louder.
My question is where does this sound come from? Is it from the motor? Or its from the rack? My mechanic said to change the pipe as per my observation. But there is no leak from the pipe. Does whining sound can come from the pipe when there is no leak?
Please answer. Thank you and regards.
Well you want a pinpoint the noise so use my video finding the source of car noises Scotty. Just watch it on YouTube for my experience though if it didn't whine before you got a bad motor when you replaced it or it was tightened up too tight and then it winds cuz the bearings are strained
