thanks for all the helpful hints/tips. One topic seems to have a wide range of opinions. When should I replace the radiator hoses?
1. I have honda CRV 06, bought brand new, 150k. I replaced coolant a few years ago. Hoses feel fine, look fine, I have zero leaks.
2. I have 01 dodge cummins, bought brand new 90k, I replaced coolant in 04 with extended life red truck antifreeze, said 300,000 mile. again no leaks, hoses feel fine, running 7 psi radiator cap.
What brand of hoses?
Thanks,
Steven
generally the hoses that they sell the discount auto parts stores work perfectly fine you may need to change them sooner on the Dodge but as for the Japanese products most use synthetic rubber and I've had Toyotas that were 30 years old and still had original hoses on them and they were still okay. But if you really want to check hoes remove a couple and look inside cuz they often crack from the inside out and if they're cracking on the inside change them before they crack the whole way through

thanks for the feedback, I won't worry about the Honda, I will Pull a hose off the dodge and look at the inside. Had never heard of the look at the inside of the hoses hint.
I replace mine in the eight to ten year range just to be safe. Nothing worse than having a hose go at the wrong time. They aren't that expensive if you get them online. Make sure it's a reputable automotive seller and the hoses aren't cheap Chinese knock offs.
Check around the net for Honda Dealers that discount for online sales. I have a couple Toyota dealers in my favorites that give 20-35% off OEM parts. I'm betting that more than a few Honda dealers are doing the same for extra sales.
