Hello,
I brought my car to at least 3 mechanics now, and none of them have any clue as to why this is happening. I have a 2010 Hyundai Sonata, at about 90,000 miles and whenever it gets cold out, I’d say anything below 40 degrees, the horn and the radio stop functioning properly. If it’s warm outside, I’d say anything 55 degrees and above, everything works fine..any clue as to what the solution would be?
Thanks
Does the radio lose all power? No display, no nothing?
@hillbilly the power to the radio goes out completely, there won’t be a display at all for at least 10 minutes. Then, as the car warms up it will go on and off, I’d say for another 10-20 minutes. After about 30-40 minutes it will function normally again. But, in the cold my horn won’t work at all.
It seems that the BCM is acting up, to make sure that relays are gook, when the radio does not work, remove the radio relay and replace it with similar relay and check if it does the same or not. If it started working, the relay is bad.
@yaser I appreciate the comment, but I have no idea how to do anything with cars lol. Where would the relay be located? And, if that is the problem is it a hard fix?
Check out your car manual to see where the fuse/relay boxes are. They are usually under the hood and also under the steering wheels. It should be an easy fix.
@yaser thanks, I’ll check that out
Definitely sounds like a relay concern. When they are going out temperature can be a huge factor. If you google the relay and your vehicle it could also help you with locations
