- Hi , Scotty , I have sonata 2010 with 142000 kms automatic, everytime early morning or specially on the winter my power steering hard too much to move , when my car is hot then it works fine, what I can do please help me ...
According to the rockauto.com database the 2010 Sonata has hydraulic power steering. (Of course their database is not 100% accurate, but you can easily verify this by seeing if you have a power steering fluid reservoir under the hood.)
If that's the case you're experiencing "morning sickness" when the power steering fluid is cold and not flowing well. This can be due to a worn pump causing low hydraulic pressure or worn seals in the rack itself. (Pressure can be checked with a suitable gauge.) Changing the power steering fluid may help a little bit.
You should have electric power steering. You're having a failure of the electronic power steering system when it's cold. From my experience that is normally the electric motor is starting to go bad. Have that checked by an expert because it's not a cheap part
