Scotty,
when you review ram trucks(I believe your reviews) you give them low marks. But adverts from Dodge Ram have them claiming to have won all these awards. Are there any companies that review automobiles whose reviews we can trust???
NO.
No, none, unfortunately. You want the truth, listen to mechanics like Scotty and Car Wizard; they are not sponsored by anyone except by truth. Combined, they have 70+ years experience working on all types of vehicles and have seen it all (well, almost).
And then be prepared to handle the truth.
Also, if you're willing to read subtitles, AutoStrong-M are great.
the ONLY source on the internet with knowledge on automatic transmission reliability.
Instead of "VW bad, Toyota good" they do into incredible detail and disassemble components while explaining weaknesses. somehow, IMO, it's even surprisingly fun and entertaining.

Like how here they have a full 30 minute video on the weakness and story of the VW EA888 engine.
"companies that review"
just think about what that statement means: an organisation who gets paid ... to say things about a product.
Is it even possible for a such a review to be trusted, or is that an oxymoron?
It’s an oxymoron.

Actually RAM heavy duty are decent trucks. The 6.7 Cummins is rock solid. And the Asin transmission is doing a decent job. Not a huge fan of the newest generation 5.7/ 6.4 HEMI but traditionally they’re rock solid motors as well. And the 8HP ZF design transmission is one of the better ones made right now. It’s the electronic components that aren’t that great as well as the use of cheaper cosmetic parts.
Scotty has said in videos that the engines in Ram trucks aren’t usually bad, especially the Cummins Diesel engines, it’s the unbelievably poorly made electronic parts, undersized starters, plastic made crap that always breaks, and most of the time (with the exception of the Asin Transmissions in the new heavy duty Rams) it’s the terrible automatic transmissions. Very similar to GM if you thing about it. Very sad if you think about it, especially looking back and seeing how well they used to be made!
@owen-klaassen the Asin isn’t amazing but it’s working out. Hopefully they can make a deal with Allison soon and the Asin will be swapped out with an actual heavy duty transmission. Name a company that doesn’t use a ton of plastic. Yes the electronics suck as i mentioned above. That being said, rural America there are more late model cummins on the road than Ford and GM combined. Ford coming in at a close 2nd though. And most have 300k mi or more and no issues even with the cosmetics and such.
Don't trust that non-sense when it comes to longevity. Don't buy a 2000s RAM, they are not good trucks and are nothing like the ones from the 90s, when they were indestructible.
