Hey Scotty,
Ik Toyota is going slow with EVs and I thought that Nissan was the Japanese pioneer for electric cars with the Leaf, but wasn't it Toyota? Toyota had the Rav4 EV and went for 2 generations and first came out in 1997 and stopped production in the early 2010s.
Toyota had two different generations of RAV4 EV. The first was built by Toyota. The second was a m collaboration with Tesla. But they didn’t really do too well on the market during their time. Too early IMHO.
You want opinions? One of the reasons I like Toyota cars is because they exhaustively test technology before they push it out the factory to the public. That's one of the reasons that their cars don't burst into flame like Ford and Chevy and Tesla products. The RAV4 Prime is a good example of mature, tested technology that most people can use for the bulk of their driving in full electric mode, yet have cross-country no worries range - and it's one of the fastest vehicles Toyota builds.
Do you want to be the beta tester for technology (we used to call it being a guinea pig)? Go ahead, I'll catch up later.
