Hello all newbie here. We bought a 2010 rav4 with 180k miles for 5k a few days ago. Test drove it and there was no engine light. Today my wife drove it to work and she said it stalled when she decelerated quick. The car stalled out 3x like this. She just started it back up all 3x. We will be taking it to a mechanic but the soonest appointment is 3 days away. Can anyone suggest what could be the issue? The owners had service records of everything includong every oil change and the carfaxes. and it looked super clean recordwise. They said it was a new battery as well. Any help is appreciated!
Vacuum leaks can do that. Follow the engine air filter to the engine intake.
Make sure the air filter is properly installed, and there are no cracks in the hoses. Listen for any hissing air.
Oh, and make sure the air filter isn't dirty.
I did need a new air filter and it turns out the oil was super low. I didnt even consider something so basic. Thank you for the help carlos.
Could need a fuel filter, spark plugs may be worn out, have it scanned and put a fuel filter in it
