The modern Mitsubishi S-AWC system has been reliable and well performing. I wish the rest of the vehicle was as good as the systems!

I leased a 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, and it made it through Wright's Area 252 off-roading course.

Don't ask how I ended up in rural W. KY and was taking a crossover off roading. It's a long story

Subaru has perfected the AWD system. Toyota’s AWD system works great as well. Even Honda isn’t bad.

what about mitsubishis awd system? are they up to par?

@1stCarBuyer Mitsubishis in my opinion are really not that popular in the American market generally speaking. And their overall quality is not great so I steer clear of them.

If AWD is your main concern, my number one recommendation for AWD vehicles is Subaru.  That's their speciality.  That's their niche.  That's what they are known for.  AWD + Boxer Engine.

Not to mention, they also have the best center of gravity because of the boxer engine.

Subarus.
I drive into forests during winters.
I see some small Subarus can follow the ruts that created by other off-roaders all the way to middle of forests.

Not many AWD passenger vehicles can do this.

Subaru has a great AWD system

You would also be happy with a Toyota AWD vehicle (the subaru transmissions are a bit weaker I would swing for a manual transmission but the autos are decent enough for 100k miles or so)

Snow tires are more affective than having AWD (Consumer Reports)
