I have a 2012 Benz ML350 (made in Germany) and I just replaced the bank 2 cam shaft and valves. what oil is advisable to service the engine since i have tampered the engine and live in a hot climate( Africa) .5w20 or 5w30 Nordkapp engine oil?
Also can I put thinner in my fuel tank to clean my catalytic converter.

Use the oil recommended in your owner's manual.
@chucktobias oil specification doesn't say anything about using an American standard or European standard oil
Since it's a European car that strongly suggests using oil that meets European standards.
