Hey Scotty there are a bunch of good deals on rental cars in my area that are of the 2020 model year but according to their carfax almost all of them haven't had maintenance until like 20k or 30k miles when it's abt to be sold. Do the companies do the maintenance themselves that isn't shown on the carfax or do they not do the maintenance at all?
And does this effect the overall reliability of these newer cars to the point where it's not a good buy?
I wouldn't. They get driven hard and put up wet.
Hell no. Unless you know what you are doing and what to look for.
Based on the way i treat rentals, i would never buy one.
Like Taxis and Police cars, rental cars live a hard life. I wouldn't buy one.
I used to work for Enterprise Rent a car. They do keep up with their oil changes
Hell no!
Rental cars generally have excessive wear done on them. You might get lucky and get a killer dealer, like I know some people that have 10 15 year old former rental cars with no issues, but is it really a risk you want to take? I doubt they would let a mechanic check it out and they are commonly used in severe conditions. Some companies are too cheap and don't care about the cars so they just don't maintain them and thats helps them fail prematurely. I would avoid them all in all, especially when looking at newer models.
